Volquartsen VF-Oryx - MDT Mention

Volquartsen VF-Oryx - MDT Mention

Founded in the early 1970s by Tom Volquartsen, Volquartsen Firearms was born from a love for building quality firearms. Fast-forward to the 2020s, and Volquartsen Firearms is owned and operated by Tom's two sons, expanding on their father's company. Today we highlight a neat rifle from Volquartsen, the VF–ORYX rifle. Like all Volquartson rifles, the VF-ORYX rifle is match-grade accurate and features an MDT ORYX Chassis System.

The VF-Oryx's receiver and barrel are black-cerakoted CNC-machined stainless steel. Threaded into the front of the receiver is a snake-fluted barrel for increased rigidity and durability with a Forward Blow Compensator that helps the rifle shoot as flat as possible. The VF-ORYX is available in 17 HMR, 22 WMR, and 22 LR. The action of the VF-Oryx is CNC-machined with wire-EDM components.

The bolt in the 17 HMR and 22 Winchester Magnum options has a round titanium firing pin with a tuned extractor for reliability and consistency in the cycling of the rifle. This choice of the firing pin is imperative to increase the reliability of the semi-automatic action. The factory 2.25 lbs fully adjustable TG2000 trigger group pairs well with the semi-automatic action and is optimal for both hunting and target shooting applications while providing bolt-action-like trigger consistency in a repeating rifle.

The M-LOK rail on the MDT ORYX Chassis System allows for the addition of ARCA or Picatinny rail attachments.

If you've never shot a semi-automatic match-grade rimfire rifle, the VF-ORYX provides an excellent starting point in this category of rifles. All that is necessary to start hunting, target shooting, and competing with the VF-ORYX is a box of ammo, the optic of your choice, and the rifle itself. The beauty of the MDT ORYX Chassis System is that it allows you to customize and fit the chassis for your body type, and the M-LOK rail allows for ancillary equipment like bipods, tripods, ARCA, and Picatinny attachments.
