JAE-G5 Chassis System

This chassis is truly beautiful and well-crafted! Now, I'm just waiting to see if there's a 2-inch extended Arca rail available that would fit perfectly on it. That will complete the setup!

I shoot competitive benchrest .22. When I decided to build a rifle for the Unlimited class, I chose single shot Vudoo for my barreled action. Seeing that I shoot from a wheelchair, I needed that perfect, or Just Right feel to the chassis.
I loved the look and the ease of adaptability of the G4 chassis, so I bought it. A tweek here, a tweek there and this rifle is the most comfortable rifle I have ever shot.

Love this chassis. Well made. It has a great balance point just in front of the magazine well. I added the Hoptic 2 round holder. Fits perfect for this chassis. GreyOps shooting plate made for the JAE completes this set up.

After running an MPA chassis for awhile I decided I Wanted a traditional stock feel for my new PRS build. After doing some research and watching a few reviews online I chose the MDT JAE G5 over a manners PRS and a foundation. The JAE kind of bridges the gap of a chassis and a traditional stock and gives you the best of both worlds. After installing and getting some rounds down range all I can say is WOW! I used the 2 internal weights and 1 set of exterior weights with a proof comp. barrel. and it balanced out perfectly. I feel rock steady on props and the dead recoil feel is something that makes a huge difference for me. Very happy with my choice and on top of everything it all looks super cool cause we all know that's the most important thing!

The New Gen 5 is awesome. MDT did it again keeping up the build quality of the original Jae but they found a way to lighten up the rear end and with an integrated Arc Rail and coming in at the price it is it's a no-brainer. If you're in the market for a precision rifle chassis but love the look and feel of a stock and one of benefit from the dead feel the J Allen provides pick one up.

This is what my 2020 need to grow up to be a perfect 6.5PRC rifle. With the Carbon barrel and black 2020 action it looks and shoots almost 1/4 MOA every time. I’m going to take it and challenge my local benches rest 600 yard 3/4 MOA F-class gong shooting competition. They all shoot F-class and I’m going to hang with them I think. If not at least I can pick it up and throw it on the ground and shoot prone out from a tri-pod without bringing a wagon of stuff to set up my rifle… :joy: This JAE-700 G5 looks amazing!

The screw quality is horrible. Removing under-torqued screws, the screws for attaching the rifle to the chassis will strip.

Do not buy this product. Do not buy this product or any of the furniture. I bought it all and have lost thousands of dollars and the gosh darn rifle and I am very upset left with a damaged receiver and damaged chassis. And I doubt I will get a refund. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Looks incredible but beauty is only surface deep. I spent the year competing with one of these, if you’re looking to do the same, skip it. Doesn’t hold up to hard use or do anything special for the price of admission.

I own both an ACC and JAE-700 G4 and prefer the JAE-700. M-LOK side rail accepts finer threaded 10-32 size fasteners instead of standard M-LOK screws as others have said (5/16" length works nicely) Some often understated features of the JAE which I prefer over the ACC are the threaded adjustment on the mag catch, having R-Lok on the optional arca rail, buttpad section, texture, and most importantly the throw lever removable cheek piece (makes cleaning and bolt removal a breeze). I think it also looks nice as well.

It's as close to perfect as it gets, but it's complex in its construction though and the M-Lok attachment system doesnt take the standard screws that come with M-Lok attachments so you have to get the right machine screws to fit in the slots. Other than that I'm very pleased.

This is a 5 star chassis but it is worth noting several things before buying one. Some might seem obvious but they are worth noting: (this review is just about the chassis and accessories and not about accuracy, shooting etc (well yet)

#1 - It is Bag Rider or JAE Off Hand Rest - Not both. Can always swap them but I would opt for what you need or the Bag Rider First
#1.5 - If you take apart the Bag rider, prepare yourself for some very fidgety square nuts that while I never needed to take it apart, I found to be quite a fun exercise to get them back together. But now I know, just loosen those two lower screws vs. remove them.
#2 - Just buy the JAE M-LOK Arca Rail 700 - 6" - It looks cool and that extra distance out there is helpful
#3 - I bought the Night Vision Mount but do not have Night Vision and might never need it. But much like checking the boxes on a new car, you buy nice things once and want all the options
#4 - I will not lie when I almost fell over to see that Butt Plate Spacers are quite expensive. Pretty sure I will need to add 1 if not 2 of those as the stock is very short out of the box even with the spacers provided. Wish it came with 4 at this price point
#5 - Palm Rest Spacers. This one is a bit like the Butt Plate Spacers, just wish it was supplied with a few more of each of these fitment items out of the box.
#6 - Quality of the chassis is very good, tolerances are top notch.
#7 - Will probably eventually want a set of side panels to paint custom, but have to wait for the pricing and availability on those and possibly the use of defibrillator - But seeing I walked into this knowing this is a boutique purchase I understand, but Defibrillator at the ready
#8 - It seems to take quite a few different bits to work on and setup the chassis. While I get this, I scratch my head a bit that I need up to 6 different size bits to set it up. Maybe I am just spoiled by other designs that seem to reduce this number of tools needed by keeping sizes the same or I am just complaining about nothing important to most, but just know that seems to be the case
#10 - Weight - It is not light, know what you are buying and why. I would estimate mine will be cresting 18-20lbs when fully outfitted with accessories and scope - But I do not mind that, if you do just make sure to do the math, or like me lose some weight and up your work out routine
#11 - While the instructions sent with it are good, they do not cover some items, those items for most should be pretty straight forward like grip swapping and accessory install, but it might be a nice way to round out the manual to add in those items, suggested torque specs etc. Also a link to all the videos for setup, while I found some I would think those might be coming as MDT is very good at providing good info and video instructions overall.

Some General thoughts:

This is easily one of the most Interesting / Cool / Sci-Fi looking chassis out there. If you are the one that wants something different, retro yet futuristic, pricy yet worth it. Then this chassis will more than likely fill the entire bill and leave a big tip. While you will be paying down your credit card for some time to come, you only live once. It will be some time before barrel and action show up, then the 4th mortgage on my home for the scope I want, then probably being disowned by all my friends as I sit at home vs. going out because I cannot afford ammo, I am very happy with my purchase. One side note is this is listed with a 8-10 week lead time and mine shipped much faster than that, so I was either lucky or those lead times are worst case estimates.

The JAE-700 was already one of the pinnacle rifle stocks on the market that was absolutely packed full of features. The new G4 made it even better by adding some small details like an over molded texture for the comb riser, option for a vertical grip angle and interchangeable side panels. The ability to tune it is just as good as ever. I would recommend this to anyone but especially rimfire shooters where mag height and support are critical to reliable feeding.
