SHOT SHOW 2026: MDT Launches DRT Chassis System!

SHOT Show is where new ideas hit the floor, and this year, MDT is bringing something built specifically for hunters who operate when most people are heading home. Introducing the MDT DRT Chassis System, a lightweight, magnesium hunting chassis designed from the ground up for predator hunters running night vision and thermal optics. The DRT was created to solve a familiar problem: modern night-hunting setups keep getting heavier, more complex, and harder to manage in the field. Clip-on optics, bridge systems, backup devices, tripods, and accessories all add up quickly. MDT’s goal was simple: build a platform that could handle the hardware without becoming a burden to carry.

At the center of the system is a magnesium chassis body and buttstock, delivering an impressive strength-to-weight ratio while keeping total system weight to just 3.2 pounds. That weight savings matters when you’re hiking between stands, navigating uneven terrain in the dark, or running multiple setups over the course of a long night.

To support today’s night-hunting gear, the DRT features a Type III hard-anodized aluminum NV bridge and ARCA rail, engineered to withstand repeated clamping from thermal and night vision devices without losing rigidity or alignment. Whether you’re running a clip-on in front of your day optic or a full bridge setup, the DRT provides a stable mounting foundation that holds zero and stands up to hard use.

MDT also built field practicality into every corner of the chassis. The integrated folding mechanism reduces overall length for transport and vehicle storage, while the adjustable friction system allows users to tune the tightness of the folder's lock. Ergonomics was just as important. Tool-less length-of-pull adjustment and an adjustable cheek riser with a foam insert allow shooters to dial in a comfortable, repeatable position, even when wearing heavy outer layers in cold weather. A carbon fiber vertical grip keeps weight down while providing solid control, and the forend integrates M-LOK and full-length ARCA with RRS Lock and ARCALOCK compatibility for tripod and barricade use.

Reliability was another priority. The DRT includes an adjustable magazine latch and a magazine release lock to help prevent accidental mag drops during movement—something that becomes even more critical when operating in low light or under pressure. Compatibility is focused and intentional. The DRT is compatible only with Remington 700 clone actions with an integral lug that is less than 3/8" tall, like Defiance, Impact, Terminus, Curtis, and Lone Peak. It is not compatible with Factory Remington 700 or Bergara actions unless you modify the lug. Bedding compound grooves are built into the chassis to further support proper action fit during installation.
