MDT Lone Peak Actions: Razor, Fuzion & Fuzion Ti Explained

Earlier this year, MDT shocked the industry with the announcement of its purchase of Lone Peak Arms. Lone Peak is one of the premier action manufacturers, and its products have led to countless podium finishes by some of the world's most elite shooters. I wasn't surprised when the news broke—MDT is one of the best chassis manufacturers, so it makes sense they'd join forces with a legendary action manufacturer. Now that the actions are officially live on MDT's website, it's time to dive into each action and what they offer you.

RAZOR SPECS

The Razor is the more “entry-level” action with a more attractive price point, but not all the features of other models. The standard specs are as follows:

  • Model(s): Razor
  • Material/Finish: Stainless Steel
  • Weight (SA/LA): 26 oz., 29 oz.
  • Bolt Throw: 75°
  • Mag Cut: BDL
  • Footprint: Remington 700
  • Available in LH: No
  • Price: $1,199 USD

RAZOR FEATURES

The Razor action is built on a simple idea: give precision shooters an action that transitions easily between competition and hunting. Machined from pre-hardened 416R stainless steel, the Razor uses a pinned-and-screwed rail interface with an integral recoil lug to keep the optic and action locked in place under recoil. The one-piece fluted 4340 chrome-moly bolt receives a nitride finish for added hardness and corrosion resistance, while EDM-cut raceways, a mini M-16 extractor, and a lightweight firing pin provide smooth cycling, reliable extraction, and a shorter lock time.

Its 75° bolt throw also reduces bolt lift and improves optics clearance, enabling faster follow-up shots. The Razor uses a Remington 700 footprint and accepts precision pre-fit barrels. The Wyatt BDL magazine cut supports BDL or DBM configurations with AICS-pattern magazines. Available in short- and long-action configurations, the Razor weighs approximately 26 or 29 ounces, respectively.

FUZION SPECS

The Fuzion is the mainline action. It has all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a custom action. The Fuzion offers more bolt face and action length options. The standard specs are as follows:

  • Model(s): Fuzion
  • Material/Finish: Nitrided Stainless Steel
  • Weight (SA/LA): 34 oz., 38 oz., 30 oz., 39 oz. (Lapua)
  • Bolt Throw: 75°, 90° on Lapua Bolt Face
  • Mag Cut: AW, BDL, or 3.825” (338 Lapua)
  • Footprint: Remington 700
  • Available in LH: Yes
  • Price: $1,449.99 USD, $1,549.99 USD (Lapua)

FUZION FEATURES

The Fuzion action is engineered to deliver competition-level precision without compromising the durability needed for high round counts. Machined from pre-hardened 416R stainless steel, the action features an integral 20 MOA Picatinny rail and recoil lug, providing a rigid foundation that resists movement under recoil. A one-piece fluted 4340 chrome-moly bolt, EDM-cut raceways, and a 75° bolt throw combine to enable smooth, repeatable cycling, while the nitride finish adds corrosion and wear resistance without affecting tolerances.

Inside the action, a mini M-16-style extractor and ejector ensure reliable extraction, while a lightweight firing pin assembly shortens lock-up time for consistent ignition. The Fuzion uses a Remington 700 footprint, providing broad compatibility with aftermarket stocks and chassis. The AW / Wyatt BDL magazine cut supports either a DBM setup or a flush internal magazine. A side bolt release simplifies maintenance, and configurations are available in multiple action lengths, bolt faces, and 75° or 90° bolt throws.

FUZION TI SPECS

This Fuzion TI is for serious hunters. It's made to handle what the mountains can throw at it. The standard specs are as follows:

  • Model(s): Fuzion TI
  • Material/Finish: DLC Titanium
  • Weight (SA/LA): 21 oz., 22 oz.
  • Bolt Throw: 75°
  • Mag Cut: BDL
  • Footprint: Remington 700
  • Available in LH: Yes
  • Price: $1,749.99 USD

FUZION TI FEATURES

The Fuzion Ti is built on the simple idea of saving weight without sacrificing performance. Its action body is machined from lightweight 6AL-4V titanium, and a DLC-coated receiver adds a hard, low-friction layer of protection against wear. An integral recoil lug and a split 20 MOA Alpine-cut Picatinny rail create a rigid mounting platform without unnecessary components. The action uses a Remington 700 footprint and a Wyatt BDL magazine cut, allowing either a BDL-style hinged floorplate or a DBM setup.

At the heart of the Fuzion Ti is a one-piece fluted 4340 chrome-moly bolt with a nitride finish, paired with a mini M-16 extractor and a 75° bolt throw for smooth cycling, reliable extraction, and improved optics clearance. Fluting reduces reciprocating mass, and the lightweight firing pin assembly shortens lock time for consistent ignition. Available in Short Action or Long Action configurations, the Fuzion Ti weighs 21 oz for the SA and 22 oz for the LA. It is designed to deliver precision without adding unnecessary weight to a hunting rifle.

MY LONE PEAK BUILD

I've used a Lone Peak Fuzion action for several years, and I can confidently say it is one of the best actions on the market. I detailed the build in this article. To summarize, I chose the action for its reputation. The Fuzion is used by some of the top competitors in the sport, so it is good enough for me. I have the action housed in an MDT XRS Chassis with the extended forend. The barrel is from Hawk Hill and was chambered in 6mm BR by Keith Baker. The rifle is a laser beam.

ZOOMING OUT

With MDT bringing Lone Peak Arms into the fold, shooters now have access to three actions that span a wide range of builds. The Razor keeps things simple and affordable while still offering the features you'd expect from a serious precision action. The Fuzion steps things up with more configuration options and a proven competition pedigree, while the Fuzion Ti takes that same basic idea and trims the weight for hunters who spend more time in the mountains than on the range.

Having spent several years running a Fuzion, I'm already sold on what Lone Peak brings to the table. These aren't just actions with impressive specs. They're built around what matters when you're building a competition rig, hunting rifle, or fun range gun. MDT's Lone Peak lineup gives you plenty of ways to start with a solid foundation.
