INTERNET'S CHEAPEST PRECISION RIFLE
The YouTube channel Averageshot recently set out to build what he believes is the "Internet's cheapest precision rifle"—and posted a video documenting its performance.
The rifle is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and built around a Howa M1500 barreled action paired with an MDT Field Stock chassis. An Arken LH-4 6-24x50 optic sits on top, and the chassis provides mounting options for a bipod.
At the start of the video, the host films his first shots using a trigger cam. Shooting Federal Gold Medal Match 130-grain Berger loads, his first round clocks in at 2,730 feet per second and lands low and left. A few turret adjustments on the Arken optic bring the rifle to a solid zero, with a four-shot group at 100 yards measuring about the size of a nickel.
From there, he engages a full-size IPSC silhouette at 483 yards, scoring a hit on the first shot. He then explains his build decisions, noting that he added two internal weights to the MDT Field Stock for stability and adjusted the cheek riser for comfort and ergonomics. After working a KYL rack, he moves on to a square steel plate at 1,000 yards.
Multiple impacts at 1,000 yards confirm the rifle's capability. The video closes with drone footage and the host's final thoughts—clearly satisfied with the performance of his budget-friendly precision build.
First round hit at 1000 yards.
