LSS-XL GEN2 Chassis

This chassis completed my Predator hunting rifle perfectly. My Howa 22-250 is much improved with this chassis.

The LSS XL is a great chassis and with the other MDT components makes a great platform for accurate target engagement. In hindsight, should have waited for the gen3. Thanks MDT.

This review is on the Ruger American ranch gen 2 AR magazine model. build quality is amazing like always. Fits great. my only issue is the safety will not function. seems like more room is needed for clearance. When I get a chance I will try to finish milling it but realistically it should come without this issue. I have had at least 4 MDT chassis and I've never experienced a problem.

Bought this for my son's new ruger gen 2 5. 56. The rifle was fairly accurate but now WOOW 75gr soft point federal SBR ammo is a 1 hole shooter now absolutely love this chassis

I bought this for my Savage 110 Highcountry 300wm. It was super easy to install and it works with the Savage models that have the trigger guard bolt release button. I bought a magazine from MDT but it didn’t fit, I went with a Magpul magnum caliper magazine other than that everything works as it should.

Fit & finish is outstanding!

I have to say I'm really dissatisfied with this purchase. The gun looks great, but I expected more value from the build overall. The main issues arose when I was trying to assemble the folding stock—some parts just didn’t fit together properly. Plus, the quality of the stock itself was disappointing; it felt poorly constructed. After this experience, I'm not planning to buy from MDT again.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my MDT LSS XL chassis. Great finish, and construction. Definitely tightened up my groups from the standard stock my rifle came with.

I put in on my Howa 1500 308.
Only disappointment is that it’s heavier than I anticipated. It is all metal and is s fantastic setup for long range shooting. Between my bull barrel, larger scope, and the weight of the chassis, I don’t think I want to pack this thing far.

You may want to pick light weight features if you plan to use this for back country hunting. Or even select the regular version instead of the XL.

However, I fully endorse MDT’s products and will buy again.

I called with questions and the staff was very helpful in helping select a chassis that would work with my barrel length.

The build quality is second to none and the attention to detail is spot on! Just sent some down range for 1st time got sub MOA. The adapter for the stock , I’d like to see a shorter spacer option between the stock and chassis for shorter length of pull for those of us with shorter reach… minor point! MDT is an outstanding company and the staff is fantastic as well as customer service needs!

New rifle, tried REM 150 Core Lokt and Hornady Whitetail 139 Interlok. CL wasn’t that great, Hornady did around an inch. I shoot 3 shot groups because I primarily hunt. Not much of a target shooter. I feel more comfortable shooting an AR style platform so I got the LSS-XL 2 chassis and got some REM Tipped CL 150’s to try. 100 yards, first 3 shot group 0.627” , second group 0.569”. Made adjustments to bring the group in and then grouped 2 REM and 3 Hornady into 0.790”. I have two different brands I can use and the MDT chassis definitely improved my grouping. Recoil slightly smoother maybe and for sure less muzzle jump with the added weight and the different stock configuration. Feeding was good with the MDT mag. No problem hitting the AR500 at 330 yards. I will be shooting some paper to confirm exact impact points at 200 and 300 to see if my CDS is accurate. Overall, very satisfied and looks very cool. Installation was quick and easy.

Really like this chassis they are on 2 Begaras and 2 Aeroprecision Solus.

Very pleased

To preface this review, I installed a brand new Ruger American Gen II short action chambered in .223 Remington, into an MDT LSS XL AR-style with the carbine interface. It's a solid chassis, very nicely machined, and looks fabulous. Essentially no flex and the barrel is now free-floated. It's almost perfect, except for one very annoying issue.

If you properly and fully torque the rear action screw, the safety won't disengage. There isn't quite enough relief or clearance inside the channel where the trigger assembly sits, and the safety wheel and spring-loaded detent mechanism hits on the bottom of the channel. The chassis needs another 0.5-1.0 mm of relief clearance machined into the channel where the trigger assembly rests. For the time being, I did not fully torque down the rear action screw. I can see where the bottom of the safety wheel hits the chassis when I move the safety selector to the fire position. I may try filing that spot down a bit, rather than sending the chassis back, because I really like the chassis otherwise.

I hope that MDT reads this review and takes a closer took at the MDT LSS XL chassis for the Gen II Ruger Americans. It just needs slightly more vertical relief machined into the trigger assembly well area.

Some might think it's crazy to spend as much on a chassis as they did for the rifle, and although the Ruger American is by no means a "fancy" rifle, it can definitely shoot.

The quality in this chassis is unmatched, I wanted to built an ultra light hunting rifle and damn it's perfect ! The color was perfect it fit my barrel and action to perfection and it looks absolutely amazing, I would say if your on the fence take the plunge and get it you will not regret this purchase !

Very nice chassis. Light weight. Easy to change your action into an up grade for stock. Well definitely do again. Love the look.

I put this Chassis system on my Savage 110 Carbon Tac. Looks amazing and fits like a glove. Great machining in these parts. Great prices for the quality.

Fit was perfect and simple....am impressed

I easily swapped to my new MDT chassis. I originally match it up with a Luther adjustable stock but purchased a MDT carbine to fixed stock adapter and installed a Magpul PRS stock I had from another rifle and this has become a tack driver.

Loved the seamless installation onto my Savage 110 Tactical. I had a couple questions about the process and things I was trying to figure out, so I emailed in and they got back to me very quickly. They worked diligently to answer everything I asked and made sure that my system was good to go so that I can take it to my next rifle comp. Loved the chassis, the customer service and performance of this.

So what's up with a 529 price point, then when you define which stock mount you prefer...regardless of your selection. Another 100 is added...bumping to 629. So that's the price all along? Just say it bro LSS XL is 629....not 529

Perfect fit quality chassis

Love the chassis. The quality is excellent. It fits perfect on my savage 110.

I am a lefty and appreciate that they at least had an option for me, but overall for the cost, I regret this purchase. I just hate the ergonomics of this with their buttstock and grip. The balance is an abomination, it is pokey, snaggy and I just don’t enjoy shooting my rifle anymore. I believe I am going to chalk this thing up as a wasted money and go with a traditional fiberglass stock. I have endured it for a few years, but can’t lie to myself anymore. I hate this thing.

Very well made with a little design flaw (savage rifles): Original Savage stock has bottom bolt release button where MDT has side slot (no button but any small screw driver/pick/Allan wrench vill do) to operate internal bolt release bracket.
