MDT Mention: Anthony Amantine Discusses his Thermal Hog Rifle

Editor's Note: MDT Mentions is a new series where we highlight unique individuals discussing rifle builds, skill sets, or going over gear that pertains to shooting. Our inaugural article will feature a world-class hunter who has a special skill set in night vision hunting.

Anthony Amantine is a well-known subject matter expert in the night vision hunting community. A former collegiate track star, Anthony resides in Texas, where he farms, ranches, builds night vision devices, and conducts research and development on night vision technology. Anthony is also an accomplished long-range shooter and expert at night hunting, specifically leveraging night vision (image intensifier) and thermal technology to eradicate feral hogs that are damaging the ecosystems of the Southern United States.

Anthony has a YouTube channel that boasts 52,000+ subscribers under the name of “a.amantine.” In one of his latest videos, he discusses a recent build that features the MDX XRS Chassis. Some of the highlights of what Anthony appreciated about the XRS Chassis were the spacious trigger guards and the positive lock-up of a seated magazine in the chassis. He intensely disliked the slop present when inserting and locking a magazine into place on various competing chassis models. Anthony peppers this chassis with praise, stating it has been accurate, durable, and reliable in all of his trials in the field thus far. The final crowning reason Anthony is a raving fan of the XRS Chassis is the affordable price-point of $499. He stated that this stock is loaded with features that $1,000 chassis models often fail to have.

Here is an excellent video of Anthony discussing a build that used the MDT ESS Chassis System.

Anthony is a fountain of information when it comes to all manner of rifles. Hit him up if you have questions about night vision, or night vision hunting. Please give him a follow on Instagram, and check out his YouTube page!
