Our favorite shooters from Down Under are back with a new video! Previous MDT Mentions have covered their builds and feats of precision shooting at extreme distances. (For those articles, click here and here.) MarkandSam AfterWork focuses on precision rifles and extreme long-range shooting. However, for them, it's not just a hobby; it's a livelihood. Their company, 4AW, specializes in manufacturing precision rifle solutions. Check them out.
In this video, Mark and Sam take on the challenge of shooting a rifle chambered in 300 WSM (Winchester Short Magnum) at 1365 yards. To accomplish this feat, the rifle is specified as follows:
Action: Bighorn Short Magnum
Barrel: 27” Swan, 1:9 Twist
Chassis: MDT JAE G5
Trigger: TriggerTech set at 1.1 lbs
Optic: Element Theos FFP
Bipod: 4AW System
Muzzle brake: 4AW 4 Port
This is a capable platform that can handle nearly any precision shooting task. To improve performance, the Aussie team developed a handload using components that include Winchester brass, ADI AR2225 powder, Berger 220-gr bullets, and Federal Gold Medal large rifle primers.
What makes these videos insightful is the thought process behind each shot attempt. Shooting accurately at long ranges, particularly at distances exceeding 1,200 yards, requires everything to align perfectly. The wind call, trigger squeeze, breathing control, and ammunition consistency are all crucial for consistent hits. It also requires teamwork and proper communication. Throughout each video, Mark (the shooter) and Sam (the spotter) work through problems as they present themselves.

How well does this rifle perform? Watch the video to find out! (Spoiler alert, the rifle shoots!) And for more videos like this one, check out MarkandSam AfterWork on YouTube. If you want the MDT JAE G5 chassis, follow this link.
