MDT Releases LSS-XL Gen2 Chassis System

After many years in the field MDT’s LSS-XL chassis system has made a name for itself as a reliable and quality fixed stock chassis system. Looking back with pride at this success story, MDT is also looking forward and is equally proud to announce the release of its next generation of LSS-XL chassis system: the “LSS-XL Gen2”.

Time came to take the LSS-XL chassis system back to the drawing board where our team remodeled it, adding functional and aesthetic features, yet kept this LSS-XL Gen2 in line with the spirit of its predecessor to offer a reliable and accurate system to competition shooters.

Originally designed as a variant of our highly popular LSS chassis the LSS-XL was intended for use with fixed buttstocks and longer barrel systems. The LSS-XL Gen2 carries on with this design intent but also benefits from MDT’s years of chassis system design expertise. Features like our M-Lok compatible forend, integrated barricade stop, ambidextrous magazine latch and thumb shelf make for great additions to our V-shaped bedding and free floated forend features already present on the original LSS-XL. The LSS-XL Gen2 also comes in both fixed and collapsible configurations to adapt to any shooter’s buttstock preference.

A lot of thoughts were given to the aesthetic aspect as well and we believe that you will appreciate the more modern lines of the LSS-XL Gen2. But it is not just about looks. You can rest assured that the LSS-XL Gen2 stayed true to its essential attribute of being a lightweight (1.6-1.9 lb), multi-purpose chassis guarantying its users the agility they require in such a system.

The LSS-XL Gen2 can be customized with a wide range of accessories including any AR-15 buttstock and pistol grip, M-Lok rails and accessories as well MDT’s LSS-XL Gen2 Night Vision hood which adapts directly into the forend M-Lok slots. The LSS-XL Gen2 chassis are also compatible with AICS pattern magazines including our range of short action and long action MDT magazines.

So, whether this is your first introduction to the LSS-XL model or you’re already familiar with this stunning chassis system and are looking to upgrade, we look forward to counting you among the numerous LSS-XL Gen2 users and hearing from your personal experience of the system.

Our new LSS-XL Gen2 chassis system are available for various bolt action platforms and can be ordered at For more information about the LSS-XL Gen2 please visit our website and check our video.

  • Jason,
We are expecting to release the V5 buttstock by end of January 2018. You will not have to wait for too long.

  • Do you have a release date for the V5 Skeleton buttstock for the fixed version of the LSS-XL Gen 2, yet?

Just opened my new chassis for Christmas and was wondering how long I will need to wait for the butt stock. Thanks – Jason

  • Ovidiu,

Folding stocks for the LSS-XL Gen2 are in development and expected to be available end of Q1 2018.

  • Chris,
MDT does not plan to make the ESS buttstock compatible with the LSS-XL Gen2. However we are close to release our V5 Skeleton buttstock for the fixed version of the LSS-XL Gen2 which will offer the same functionality as the ESS buttstock. For the collapsible version MDT offers the SCS buttstock (as shown on the blog post picture) and any AR15 type buttstock is also compatible.

  • Really liking this chassis. I’ve been going back and forth in my head with ordering the LSS-XL or dropping the extra cash and splurging for the ESS. Kind of glad I hadn’t made up my mind yet…

One question though, any reason for not offering a the ESS type butt stock mounting as an option or any intent of offering that style in the future?
